The Park

Yesterday (Monday, March 26) we took Arya to the park for the first time! It was perfect weather to do so! Thankfully, Daddy took the camera with (of course)! Arya enjoyed most of it, but she got scared on one of her trips down the bigger slide.

First time on the slide

Swings!

She giggled the whole time on the swing
"Well hi there Mr Camera"

"Peek-A-Boo!"

Brushing Teeth

Arya LOVES to have her teeth brushed. For Christmas, she received a little toothbrush and (flouride-free) toddler toothpaste in her stocking. She didn't like it at first but we just kept trying and now it's one of her favorite things!! Last Sunday, before church, we let her brush her own teeth after I had scrubbed them. She now likes to do so on a regular basis.

Climbing Trees

Arya's first time up in a tree!

Walk On!

Back in January I did a post about Arya taking her first steps. In that I post I said we hoped to get a video. Today we did! She has been walking a lot since that day-we just never got a video of it. She isn't as wobbly as she was, but it's still adorable! Near the end she starts being goofy-silly girl! Enjoy!

Climbing

Arya loves standing on the couch looking out the window. I have posted pictures of her doing so before. Lately, she tries to climb up onto the back of the couch. One time I even caught her standing on the back of it. Often times she tries to use me like a climbing wall to get onto the back of the couch.
Well, just a few minutes ago she accomplished something new. She climbed onto the couch (from the floor) all by herself...twice. Usually we pick her up and put her on the couch. Also, we usually keep things (remotes, phones, etc)"safe" from her by putting them on top of the couch moving them if she is on it. There goes that!
She does know how to slide off safely, but many times she is in too much of a hurry so we still have to be very careful.
Here is a picture of her (on the back of the couch) this morning:

Nature

We haven't received much snow this winter. I like winter...I like snow. My main complaint is that if there is no snow it might as well be warm enough for us to go out for a family walk-which it has been a few days in the last couple months (absurd in January and February!). But, we got ONE snow back in February. Bradley thought we needed to bundle Arya up and take her out in the snow. She was fine with sitting there getting her picture taking, but she didn't like touching the snow. And I know she doesn't have gloves on and that makes us look like irresponsible parents-but that was so she could feel the snow (and we were only outside for a few quick minutes to take pictures.)
"What is this stuff?"

"Yay! It's fun!"

As I said we have been taking walks whenever possible. It's good to get fresh air and exercise. It's also just nice to get out of the house! The last couple of times we have hung out in the yard for Arya to explore nature a bit. She needs to- I mean come on, her daddy is an Eagle Scout. She isn't sure about walking on the uneven ground but she is getting steadier. I have to prevent her from putting sticks and leaves in her mouth. One of her favorite things is feeling the bark on trees. Here Daddy is telling her about nature and describing the things she sees and feels.

First Phrase

Arya said her first phrase today! Bradley has been trying to get Arya to say "I love you." He doesn't understand why she hasn't since it is the phrase she has heard the most in her life. Lately, if you say "I love you" to her she waves. I think it's because a lot of times people (like family) say it to her when going bye-bye. Daddy is still going to be disappointed- she didn't say "I love you." (There will be a post when she does!!"
I was hanging post cards on her bulletin board with her behind me. When I got done I turned around to see that she had pulled the majority of her diapers off the shelf onto the floor. I started to pick them up and she handed me one. I said "Thank you." She handed me another one and said in her sweet little voice "Thank you" very clearly! Then said it every time she handed me a diaper. I laughed and told her that actually her line would be "You're welcome." I have been working on "Thank you" with her, just whenever she gives me something I say it to her and she says...something back. I was pretty excited by this. :)
Here is some cuteness for you:

This is a picture I snapped when Gramma and Grampa asked me to send them a picture. I think it's pretty good for a random snapshot.

14 months

Arya is 14 months old today! She is growing so fast!
She is still wearing 12 month size clothes. Most her pants are too long and she is so skinny that they fall down. Also, she still fits in a few of her 6-9 months clothes-they are just short in the torso. Did you know they make such a thing as 'onesie extenders?' I never knew this, but Bradley told me and we found them on clearance at Babies 'R' Us. We don't use them on a regular basis but they were great during her one year pictures. She is still in size 3 diapers-but all diapers fit her weird.
She is eating all table food. She loves everything- except green beans! She was the same way with pureed baby food.

Here is Arya Quinn 14 months ago. This was the day she was born. :)
