Vocabulary

Back in December I did a post where I listed Arya's very limited vocabulary. Of course, it has grown. Here are her current words:
Hi
Mama
Dada
Baba-Still not sure what this means. I think probably "Baby."
Out
Up
Ay- she always says/screams this when on the phone
Yeah- She actually uses this in context when we ask her a question. So glad she learned this before "no" which most children learn first and use ALL the time.
This
Take
Kiss
Hug
Uh oh
Good Good

Ow-Which she doesn't use when hurt-she just says it sometimes

She has said only a few times:
O'ay (Okay)
"Do it"
Grampa (to Grampa Brian when we were up there for Christmas)

Piano

One of Arya's current favorite things is to entertain us with her wonderful music abilities. Here she is from last week.

She walked!

Arya took her first steps tonight! Daddy got home from work and reached for her while squatting down. She walked along the couch then let go and stepped over to him! Later she walked towards the couch. We are so proud of her! Hopefully we will get a video of it sometime.

Cousins

While we were up in Iowa, I wanted to get pictures of Arya with her cousins. Well, trying to get a good picture of a 5 yr old and two infants is easier said than done. :)

Then I thought it might go better if Grandma sat down with them.
Since that didn't turn out well either I decided to see if I could at least get a good picture of Grandma with her granddaughters.

12 month Stats

Arya had her 12 month well baby check up today. Here are her current stats:
Weight: 20lbs 10 oz - 50 percentile
Length: 29" - 60 percentile
She is happy and healthy! She now switches to cow's milk instead of formula.

Goals for 15 month appt:
We need to work on using the sippy cup. (Arya takes it sometimes. Other times she refuses and wants the bottle.)

Arya needs to switch to one long midday nap instead of two shorter naps.(She has been doing one mid morning and one late afternoon.)

She should walk soon. The doc said she is on track since she is cruising.

She needs to be weaned off the pacifier, which we have been working on and it is going quite well. She only has it when she sleeps now.

Happy 1st Birthday Arya Quinn!

My baby girl turned a year old on Saturday (January 7)! I can't believe it's already been a year! In some ways giving birth seems so long ago. In other ways, it seems like it was just recently.
We celebrated her birthday with a small party. We had family and some close friends over for cake and presents. My family came in from out of town. It was great to have them all here for the celebration. Even both my grandma's came! Aunt Shannon and Uncle Terry stayed at our house while the rest of the family stayed in a hotel. Here are pictures from the party:
The cakes

Closer look at the cake

This is an attempt to show her shirt.

Looking excited about the cake!

Trying her cake. She was hesitant at first...

...then got more into it.

She enjoyed her cake for the most part. She didn't like being messy though and got quite upset.
Time for presents! (She has the pacifier because she was very tired.)

With her gift from Mommy and Daddy!

Opening a book, with assistance from Daddy

A princess book from Grandma Debbie!

Reaching into the gift bag

Under her new blanket while playing with her new phone from Aunt Shannon
Aunt Mary helping Arya inspect one of her new toys.

She really enjoys it!

Riding her rocking Tigger from Aunt Andrea and Uncle John

Unwinding with Uncle Terry after all the excitement.

Early Birthday present

Since Dee could not be here for Arya's birthday she gave Arya her birthday present at Christmas.
Pretty wrapping!

Encouraging her to open it herself
"Pull the ribbon!"

Tissue Paper! What could it be?
It's Pooh stuff!

A Tigger china set!
Every child's favorite part of a present. The box!

Final Christmas post

Our good friends the Nelsons invited us out for a hayrack ride Christmas night. It was COLD!

Arya fell asleep on the way there (She is the blanket bundle in Bradley's arms). She slept through the entire ride.

Bradley and JD cooking hot dogs over the fire.
With Aunt Dee. I think this picture shows her Christmas Dress (a gift from Dee) well.

Hanging out on Daddy's shoulders.

Arya hanging out with Grandma.

Arya napping on Grampa.

The guys decided to put the empty wrapping paper tubes to good use- Sword Fights!

Two fights simultaneously!
Arya's birthday was yesterday (obviously I am a little behind). These are the last of Christmas posts. These were pictures my mom took.

She really likes her new duck from Grandma Joan. Mommy had to sanitize it because she picks it up and it goes straight into her mouth.
Trying on Uncle Steve's hat.
Sittin' pretty in front of the tree.
 Big Yawn!
All pictures were taken by my cousin, Grant.

Christmas Day Pictures (Photo Bomb!)

Family. (I look tired because our dog ran away at 7 in the morning. Don't worry, we got her back.)
 Arya's first Christmas bib.
 Having fun with Grandma!
 Arya's first stocking!

Andrea helping Ruthanne open her stocking.

Bradley with his Genius shirt from Shannon. (Notice the gift bow on his head.)
Arya with the toy camera from Grandma Suzanne. She is yawning but I think this picture makes it look like she is amazed by it.

 Ruthanne relaxing on her daddy.
We had to take a break from opening presents. The babies were tired and I think all 3 kids were getting a little over-stimulated.
Arya with her Laugh and Learn Puppy from Aunt Shannon.
I love the expression on her face.
All these pictures were taken by Aunt Shannon.
